Saeed AJMAL Joins Adelaide Srikers - Watch live Cricekt

Big Bash outfit Adelaide Strikers have announced the signing of Pakistan’s premier spinner, Saeed Ajmal, for the upcoming second season.
Ajmal, who is widely regarded as one of the greats of modern-day cricket, will play in Strikers opening match against Perth Scorchers as cover for West Indian all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, and could return for the latter phases of the competition, depending on his availability.
The player has gone from strength to strength in recent times and is currently the no.1 ranked bowler in ODI and T20 cricket and sits behind South African pair of Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander in the longer version.
His spin variation and face value is expected to bolster not only Strikers' profile, but will further prove beneficial for the tournament itself. After signing for the Big Bash franchise, Ajmal expressed his delight and said that he is keen to showcase his talent Down Under.
"I am really excited about playing for the Adelaide Strikers and really happy that I will get the chance to show my talent in the BBL," Ajmal said.
"I am very keen to meet up with the rest of the boys soon and play my best in the games that I am available, with the hope that Adelaide make the final stages and I can return to help win the competition."
Strikers coach, Darren Berry, was also pleased to have Ajmal on board, and claimed that the pitches at Adelaide will suit his style of bowling. Also with Jon Holland, the Victorian spinner, ruled out of the season, it gives the team a like for like change.
"We know what this guy is capable of, having seen him run through both the Australian and English batsmen a couple of months ago, so to have him on board is a great result for the Strikers," Berry said.
Strikers further completed their squad for the second edition by recruiting South Australia’s wicket-keeper, Tim Ludeman, and Queensland’s right-arm leg-spinner, Cameron Boyce.  Berry was impressed with the Ludeman’s glove work during the current domestic season, while heaped praise on Boyce, who he expects to get significant purchase on dry Adelaide tracks.

Pakistan won the 2nd Asia Cup Kabbadi title in an unfinished thrilling final by 40-31 as the Indian team forfeited the tie on a technical objection raised by the hosts on Monday under lights before a full house of nearly thirty thousand spectators. The traditional team sport, in which players try to tag opponents while holding their breath, is hugely popular in the Punjab provinces of both countries and is putting down roots among expatriates in other Asian countries.

Australia v South Africa: Rob Quiney to replace Shane Watson 9 November 2012 - Watch Live Cricket Match

Left-handed Quiney, 30, only started playing first-class cricket in 2007 and averages 37.70 from 53 matches.
"Only time will tell but I'm hoping my maturity will help me," he said.
Watson, 31, damaged his calf while bowling for New South Wales against Queensland last week.
"He won't be fit enough come Friday," said Australia coach Mickey Arthur. "We wanted to be really decisive. We didn't want this to play out the whole week.
"We are comfortable we have the players and we have the cover. We're relaxed, we're calm. We're excited and really hungry for some success."
Watson has become a key all-rounder for Australia in all forms of the game and was named player of the tournament at the World Twenty20 in October.
Quiney made scores of 85 and 11 not out for Australia A in their three-day match against the Proteas which ended in Sydney on Sunday.
"I think he deserves his opportunity," Arthur said. "Over the last couple of seasons he's been prolific, he's probably been the stand-out domestic player."
"I certainly think that players performing need to get picked, guys that have done the hard yards. Rob has certainly done that."
Arthur said he was "very confident" former captain Ricky Ponting will be fit despite injuring his hamstring playing for Tasmania against the tourists.
Australia squad for first Test: Michael Clarke (captain), David Warner, Ed Cowan, Rob Quiney, Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey, Matthew Wade (wk), Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon.
South Africa Test squad: Graeme Smith (capt), Alviro Petersen, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers (wk), Jacques Rudolph, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Thami Tsolekile (wk), Robin Peterson, Rory Kleinveldt, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir.

Pakistan Cricekt Board Zaka Afraf - Former greats unhappy

LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has picked a 10-member delegation of former players, who will act as goodwill ambassadors in India during the much-anticipated bilateral series next month, but questions are being raised about the choices made by the PCB.
Interestingly some leading names are missing from the list namely former captains Asif Iqbal, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Rashid Latif, Moin Khan and even Javed Miandad.
A PCB spokesman explained the list was prepared in chronological order in terms of debuts made by the players selected.
“The selected players are those who made their debuts in 50, 60s and 70s and we will consider the others in future events as well,” the spokesman said.
Critics in the cricket community have questioned the criteria on the basis of which the players were picked. “Certainly by no stretch of imagination can you describe Burki, Intikhab or Sadiq as legends of Pakistan cricket,” one former player said. Another player questioned the need to pick players in chronological order.

Radical Hindus object to Pakistan’s India tour - Pakistan vs India 25 December 2012

NEW DELHI: Radical Hindu groups on Friday demanded the cancellation of the first Pakistan cricket tour to India in five years and threatened to hold protests against the visiting side. Pakistan will play five matches in India starting on December 25 in Bangalore, reviving cross-border cricket ties that were broken after the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai by Pakistani militants. The influential Vishwa Hindu Parishad or World Hindu Council said India should refuse to host the tour until Pakistan brings to justice the masterminds behind the Mumbai attacks that left 166 people dead. “Why should we have sporting links with a country which is directing terrorism against us,” VHP spokesman Prakash Sharma told AFP. “Pakistan is not even willing to accept evidence provided by India of its role.”
Pakistan in 2009 charged seven men over planning the Mumbai attacks, but insists it needs to gather more evidence in India before proceeding further. Sharma declined to give details of any proposed protests, but security will be high for the games in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi. Separately, India’s foreign minister Salman Khurshid defended the government’s move to resume cricketing ties with the country’s nuclear-armed neighbour. “As far as cricket is concerned, we are certainly concerned about issues that relates to accountability for a very unforeseen attack on our citizens,” Khurshid told reporters in Gurgaon on the outskirts of New Delhi. “It is a conflict on which there must be delivery of expectations that we have but we don’t want the clock to come to a standstill, the clock does move forward,” added the minister who was appointed last weekend to the portfolio.
Shiv Sena, a right-wing nationalist party based in Mumbai, on Thursday branded the tour a “national shame” and said Indian cricket authorities were “betraying the country for sake of money”. India and Pakistan have fought three wars since independence in 1947, but their shared love of cricket will ensure huge interest on both sides of the border during the tour. The cricket teams have met only in international tournaments since 2007. India beat Pakistan in the 50-over World Cup semi-final in the northern Indian town of Mohali last year – a match that was attended by both countries’ prime ministers. In 1999, protesters from Shiv Sena dug up the pitch in Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium to protest against a tour by Pakistan, though the game was unaffected.

Top Teams Set Eye on ODI Championships Table - Watch Live Cricket

Dubai: With limited overs cricket season set to start, all eight leading One-day sides are eyeing the ICC ODI Championship Table as the battle for the coveted number-one position remains tight with world champions India in third position, just one rating point behind South Africa.
Currently, only 17 ratings points separate the top six sides, with England and South Africa on equal points at 121. However, Alastair Cook`s side is rated above South Africa by a fraction of a point, while India with 120 points are behind the Proteas by only a rating point.
Four-time world champion Australia (113) trail India by seven points. Sri Lanka are placed at fifth spot with 108 rating points.
1992 world champion Pakistan are further down at number six, four ratings points behind the Lankans, and New Zealand are on 74 ratings points.
But with six top ranked ODI sides, along with the West Indies and New Zealand, gearing up to play a number of ODIs, mostly in the new year, the ranking table could witness a lot of changes before the April 1 cut-off date.
The team, which would finish as number one on April 1 cut-off date, will collect a cheque of USD 175,000 along with a Shield, while the team that would finish second will get USD 75,000.
Sri Lanka will have to win the series against New Zealand starting on November 1 at Pallekele to stay ahead of Pakistan in fifth place.
A 3-2 series win for New Zealand will mean Sri Lanka will slip to 103 ratings points, one behind Pakistan, while a 5-0 series win for Sri Lanka will put it just three ratings points behind fourth-ranked Australia.
In January 2013, Australia will host Sri Lanka for a five-ODI series, England will play five ODIs in India, and New Zealand will travel to South Africa for three ODIs.
ODI series taking place from February-March include Australia vs West Indies (in Australia, five ODIs), New Zealand vs England (in New Zealand, three ODIs) and South Africa vs Pakistan (in South Africa, five ODIs).
After the Sri Lanka-New Zealand series, Bangladesh will host the West Indies for a five-ODI series.
These series would be the countdown to the final edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. In June 2013, defending champion Australia will be looking for a treble, having won the previous two editions of the tournament (2006 and 2009).
But Australia will face stiff challenge from former champions South Africa (1998), New Zealand (2000), India and Sri Lanka (2002), and West Indies (2004), who would also be looking to lift the trophy for a second time by winning the final edition of the event.

Asif Denies ICC Charges of Fxing - Watch Live Cricket

LAHORE - Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Asif on Monday accused the International Cricket Council (ICC) of a “biased attitude” in the spot-fixing case that led to his imprisonment.
The 29-year-old was jailed by a London court in November 2011 after being found guilty of conspiring to cheat and conspiring to accept corrupt payments over no-balls bowled deliberately during the 2010 Lord’s Test against England.
Speaking to media in Lahore on his return from UK, Asif alleged that the ICC had tried to influence the court proceedings. “The charges against me are wrong, I would never do anything that would undermine my country,” he told the media.
Responding to a question regarding the charges levelled against him and his conviction, Asif said “having being jailed doesn’t mean one is guilty; many are jailed despite their innocence.”
He said his case will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sports in the beginning of February 2013 and that he expects justice.
The disgraced cricketer mentioned his upcoming book in which he said he has explained his case in detail.
Asif also criticised the media several times for not highlighting his case properly.
Accusing ICC for acting differently in his case because of his nationality, Asif said the council did not act against English county player Mervyn Westfield until the court convicted him.
“In my case, the ICC has imposed a ban on me well before the court had issued any statement,” he stressed.
Asif said the ICC would hear his case separately in February and expressed hope that he would be acquitted after the hearing.
Asif said that he couldn’t even think of defaming the country, adding that he would make a comeback in cricket soon. The former cricketer said that he has given his statement in the court regarding cricket corruption.

Bangladesh to tour Pakistan in December - Watch Live Cricket

ISLAMABAD: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly agreed to send its cricket team to Pakistan for three one-day internationals and two Twenty20s in December. According to media reports, new BCB president Nazmul Hasan will chair a meeting after which the tour will be announced. Bangladesh was scheduled to tour Pakistan in April for a short series, but it was cancelled after its high court ordered the visit be suspended due to security concerns. No Test team has toured Pakistan for 3 1/2 years since gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka team convoy in Lahore in 2009. Last weekend an International World XI comprising of retired players from West Indies, South Africa and Sri Lanka played two exhibition Twenty20s in Karachi.

Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan allrounder, has said that he may consider retiring from ODI cricket to give selectors a chance to build a strong, young team for the 2015 World Cup being held in Australia and New Zealand. Afridi struggled, with both bat and ball, in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, scoring just 28 runs from four innings and picking up three wickets.
He said that he would reassess his future after the team returned home from Sri Lanka in mid-July. "People expect a lot from senior players, so I must sincerely review my performance [in ODI cricket]," Afridi told ESPNcricinfo. "I want to step aside for new players [to come through], so that Pakistan can build a good team for the 2015 World Cup. But I must, first, check if anyone is ready to take my place in the team, so that my retirement won't be unfair to the team."
Afridi, who was dismissed for scores of 2, 17, 0 and 9 in the ODIs against Sri Lanka, said that even if he retired from ODI's, he would still continue playing the Twenty20 format. "[I had decided that] the day I became a burden to cricket I would walk away [from the game]. I am considering [whether or not to retire from ODIs] and would consult some senior players and friends before making a decision. But even if I retire from ODI's I will continue to play Twenty20 cricket."
Pakistan were shoddy in the field, in the ODI's, with several dropped catches and missed run-out opportunities, allowing Sri Lanka to gain the upper hand. Afridi attributed the 3-1 series loss to poor fielding. "Fielding has been our weakness ever since I started playing cricket," he said. "We didn't play as we expected, but Sri Lanka were strong in their own conditions. They used the conditions very well."
In the past Afridi had announced his retirement on a number of occasions. First, in 2006, he decided to take a temporary sabbatical from Test cricket to concentrate on ODIs. Then in 2010, he announced his Test retirement after Pakistan lost the first Test against Australia at Lord's. A year later he announced a "conditional" retirement from international cricket to protest against the way he was "humiliated" by the PCB, who had stripped him of his ODI captaincy.

World XI team tour of Pakistan 20 October 2012 Live Match - Watch Live Cricket

A planned tour by a World XI to Pakistan to play two Twenty20 matches in an effort to revive international cricket in the country has been postponed for the second time this year.
According to the organisers, the World XI was supposed to play the two matches in Karachi on August 5 and 6 at the National Stadium but these matches have now been postponed to October.
Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, the minister for sports in Sindh province and a well known cricket administrator and organiser, who was behind the World XI matches said that the postponement had come because of the unavailability of Pakistani players.
“We want the full Pakistan team to play these two games, which are very important for Pakistan cricket. And the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has informed us that this can only be possible after the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka,” Shah said.
“Intikhab Alam from the PCB called me up and informed me that if we went ahead with the matches as planned on August 5 and 6, some players might not be available to play the two matches,” he explained.
The organisers have invited former stars or recently retired players from Sri Lanka, South Africa and other nations for the matches that include players like Sanath Jayasuriya, Justin Kemp, Nicky Boje, Andre Nel, Tatenda Taibu and others.
Initially the organisers had announced they would be holding the matches in May but the PCB stepped in and refused to give permission to its players for the matches as it said Dr Shah and his organising committee had gone and decided everything without seeking clearance from the board.
But after Shah met with the PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf there was a patch up and the board agreed to give permission for the matches and also help Shah organise these games by releasing members of the national team.
But while Shah claimed the matches would be held in October, cricket analysts believed it is highly unlikely any foreign player would want to tour Pakistan at that time because of security concerns.
“The organisers might be able to convince retired players to come and play in T20 matches but how many players they can attract and pay for and how they will provide security is another question,” a former player said. No Test playing nation has visited Pakistan since March 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.

Hampshire VS Sialkot Stallions - Watch Live Cricket

The match, a qualifier for the main tournament, was a dead rubber as Auckland had already made it through the group with two wins so the English county were playing only for pride.
But having posted an inadequate 143 for eight, mainly thanks to Australian Glenn Maxwell's 42 off 29 balls, they saw their Punjabi opponents ease to victory with five deliveries to spare.
Sialkot-born 24-year-old Haris Sohail led the way with an unbeaten 63 off 57 balls ably supported by Shoaib Malik (39 off 25).
Liam Dawson had given Hampshire the ideal start by removing Imran Nazir with only the fourth ball of Sialkot's reply and the English side glimpsed a chance when they reduced their opponents to 28 for three in the seventh over.
However, Sohail and Shoaib shared a stand of 96 to take the match away from Hampshire and even the late dismissal of the latter could not halt Sialkot's smooth passage to victory.
Earlier Maxwell had rescued Hampshire from 64 for four in the 11th, hitting three sixes and four fours in a 56-run stand with Pakistan international Shahid Afridi (14).
However, their departures in successive balls of the 17th over robbed the innings of some much-needed late momentum and although Dawson hit 16 off 10 deliveries their total proved not to be enough.

Azhar Mahdood Pakistani Cricketer - All Rounder Watch live Cricket

Five wickets with the ball and an unbeaten 55 with the bat from Azhar Mahmood led Auckland Aces to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Hampshire at Centurion to send the county side crashing out of the Twenty20 Champions League.
The triumph sends the New Zealanders into the group stage of the event as winners of Pool 1, while Hampshire and Sialkot Stallions, who face off on Thursday in Johannesburg, are eliminated.
Hampshire's below par score of 121 for eight from their 20 overs never looked enough as Martin Guptill's 38 and Mahmood ensured the win with over five overs remaining.
Yorkshire reached the group stage with a six-wicket win over Trinidad & Tobago, also at Centurion.
A stand of 93 between Darren Bravo and Denesh Ramdin took T&T to 148 for nine despite Ryan Sidebottom's excellent figures of three for 13.
Yorkshire's reply started slowly but Gary Ballance (64 not out) and Adil Rashid (33no) saw them home with an unbroken stand of 103.
